Hi! I’m Meg.
Whether you’re self-publishing, heading into the querying trenches, or pursuing a career as a hybrid author, you wear a lot of hats. Brainstormer. Author. Editor. Marketer. Content creator. Speaker. Business manager.
Let’s face it: In this day and age, being an author means being many things all at once. And I can relate to the push and pull of being more than one thing.
After studying journalism, creative writing, and French in college, I started my career as an English language learning teacher in France. Soon after, I found my way into local journalism, working as a reporter for newspapers throughout New England. I later struck out on my own as a freelance writer, a shift that allowed me to continue reporting while exploring new mediums such as content writing and podcast production.
In 2021, I decided to combine my long-standing love of literature with my years of media and marketing experience, and McIntyre Editorial Services LLC was born. I now work as an editor, writing coach, workshop leader, and all-around cheerleader dedicated to helping authors make their manuscripts shine.
You could say I’ve taken a winding path to become a fiction editor. Though I didn’t realize it at the time, one common thread ties all of my professional interests together: a passion for amplifying voices.
No matter which hat I’m wearing — journalist, writer, educator, or editor — I believe that my purpose is to make people feel heard. My mission is to empower people to say what they need to say, whether through helping authors hone and share their message, distilling stories via ghostwriting, or reporting on issues and communities that have been systematically silenced.
I know how hard it can be to speak up, and I struggled to find my own voice until I found a supportive creative community. For me, the catalyst was discovering the Gateless Writing method, a framework grounded in neuroscience and mindfulness and designed to help writers sidestep their inner critic. In 2022, I became a certified Gateless Writing teacher and now lead virtual workshops and salons dedicated to sharing the power of the methodology.
I’m also a trained developmental editor through the Editorial Arts Academy and a member of ACES: The Society for Editing, the Alliance of Independent Authors, and the Freelance Editors Club.

This is a small sample of the titles I’ve worked on. Because I specialize in developmental editing, which occurs early in the editorial process, there is often a lengthy period between my work on a book and its publication.
